Life in the '50s was idyllic, to say the least. More and more modern inventions were making life easier, people were heading out to the Suburbs and everyone wanted to experience the American Dream of homeownership.
The styles of the 50's whether they be cars with huge fins and a rocket motor, or Birchwood kitchen cabinets with Avocado-Green or Harvest-Gold colored appliances, it was the design of the house that established the style of the time. Coming off the Art Deco styles of the 1920s and '30s the 50s stressed a minimalist approach to design with simple roof lines and open interiors. This simple 2000SF house beautifully captures the look and feel which is just what the client wanted. Plenums will feed the mechanicals and add interest to the sloping roofs of the interior, as will the trapezoidal walls of glass.
